Application Process
Shecana will help and support you every step of the way.

High School Abroad

Pre-application form
You can download our pre-application form fill it out and send it in. You can also fill out a form online. As soon as we receive your pre-application we will send you the full application.

Interview
You and your parents will be asked to attend an interview with a Shecana representative in your home community. This is a good time for you and your family to find out more about our high school exchange.

Full application
You will receive all the forms and information on how to complete the application. Along the way please contact us for assistance if any questions come up. As soon as your application is complete, you mail it to us.

Acceptance
After we receive your full application and interview you we call to let you know whether you have been accepted into the program. Upon acceptance, we'll send an acceptance package in the mail with further information for you and your parents.

Pre-departure
Prior to departure we will help prepare you for your overseas adventure! We'll be in close contact with you and your parents to assist you with the pre-departure process, providing information about visas/permits, a comprehensive orientation and information about your host family and high school. You'll receive a pre-departure package, including your t-shirt, backpack, flight itinerary and other important information.

Arrival at your destination
You will be met on arrival at the airport in your host community by your host family and/or area representative. You will also attend an orientation in your host country to further prepare you and your host family for your stay overseas.

Throughout the year
Your area representative will check in monthly with you to see how everything is going. You can call and talk to your rep whenever you would like to chat or discuss a problem.

Gap Programs

Pre-application form
You can download our pre-application form fill it out and send it in. You can also fill out a form online. This form will let us know which full application package to send you in the mail. As soon as we receive your pre-application we will send you the full application.

Interview
A Shecana representative will interview you in person or by telephone. This is a good time for you to ask questions and learn more about your gap program.

Full application
You will have all the forms and information on how to complete the application. Along the way please contact us for assistance if any questions come up. As soon as your application's complete you mail it to us.

References
In some cases you will be required to provide references along with your full application. We will call your references to get their perspective on your participation in the program.

Acceptance
After we receive your full application and your interview and references are complete, we’ll call to let you know whether you’ve been accepted into the program. Upon acceptance, we'll send you an acceptance package with further information.

Pre-departure
We will help get you ready for your adventure overseas! You'll receive a pre-departure package, including useful information and an itinerary for your first few days. Close to departure you will also attend a pre-departure orientation.

Arrival in your destination
Upon your arrival you will have transportation from the airport, or someone to meet and greet you and help you on your way. For working holidays you will receive your cell phone at your destination.

Throughout the year
A representative will check in with you once in a while to see how you are doing. If you have a question or need to discuss a problem you can feel free to get in touch at any time.

Traveling & advice
If you decide to travel after your program or work term is up, feel free to get in touch with us here at Shecana and we can provide you with advice and/or information that will help you on your way.
